How couples and guests pick favorites

Updated 12 Sep 2026

Couples and guests tap the heart on any photo to favorite it. They can also make named lists, such as “Album picks” or “For the thank-you cards”, using Save to a list under any photo in the lightbox.

Why they are asked for an email

The first time someone hearts a photo, a small prompt asks for their email address. The heart lands as soon as they enter it. Removing a favorite never asks for anything.

This happens whether or not the gallery has email registration turned on. Registration decides who has to identify themselves to look. A favorite is a message to you, and it needs a return address to be useful.

Favorites follow the email, not the device

The same email opens the same list on a phone, a laptop, or a friend’s screen. If someone hearted photos before entering their email, those earlier picks are added to the address automatically. Nothing is lost and duplicates are merged.

The address is also saved to your Contacts and to that person’s row in Visitors, so they are one person everywhere you look.

Getting favorites back on another device

The footer of every gallery has Already picked favorites? Get them back. They enter the same email and the list appears.

To see what people picked, see See who favorited what.
