Create a wedding

Where to start

Any of these: New Wedding on the Dashboard, Add Wedding on the Weddings page, the + in the phone’s bottom bar, or click a date in the Calendar.

The first screen asks How would you like to get started? There are two paths.

Path 1: Upload & Auto-Fill

Give FOCL the couple’s paperwork and it fills the wedding in.

1. Two drop zones appear: Timeline (marked Recommended) and Shot list (marked Optional). Each takes a file or pasted text. Accepted files: PDF, Word (.docx, .doc), .txt, and images (.jpg, .png, .heic). One file per zone.
2. Continue stays disabled until you provide a timeline, as a file or pasted text. A shot list on its own will not let you move forward.
3. FOCL reads the documents and shows Review what we found: the couple and date, the venues it spotted, and the timeline events. Everything is editable. Venues on this screen can only be removed, not edited. You add and edit venues properly afterwards.
4. Press Create wedding. You need a couple name and a date before that button works.

Your uploaded files are kept in the wedding’s Uploads area. Pasted text is not stored as a file, only what was extracted from it.

Path 2: Start from scratch

1. Tell us about you. Both partner names and the wedding date. The couple name is built from the two names (“Olivia & Ethan”). There is no separate couple-name field here. Past dates cannot be selected.
2. Where’s it all happening? Click Add a venue, choose a Venue type (Ceremony, Reception, Getting Ready (1), Getting Ready (2), First Look, Portraits, Cocktail Hour, Other), search for the address, and give it a Display name. Picking a real address from the search results is what unlocks weather, maps and golden hour for that venue. You can skip venues and add them later.
3. Looking good! A read-only summary. Press Create wedding.

Save & exit does not save a draft

The Save & exit button in the wizard does not save a draft to your account. Leaving mid-wizard shows Discard Changes? with Keep Editing or Discard. Your progress is held in that browser tab, so a reload recovers it, but Discard clears it for good.
