Let the couple hide photos from guests (Couple Controls)

Updated 12 Sep 2026

Couple Controls lets the couple hide photos from their wedding guests themselves: the unflattering shot of an aunt, or a moment they would rather not have on the link they text to two hundred people. It saves them emailing you at 11pm.

It is off by default.

Turn it on

  1. Open the gallery’s Settings → Privacy.
  2. Under For the couple, switch on Couple Controls.

How the couple gets in

Turning it on creates a six-character code, like 9ETAWJ. It appears under the toggle with a Copy button.

The code is added automatically to the gallery email you send, in the same panel as the gallery password and download PIN. If you write your own delivery template, put {code} where you want it. The code only appears while Couple Controls is on.

The couple enters the code once on their device and keeps their controls for a year. No account, no password.

If they lose the code, it is always in Settings → Privacy. Send the same code again.

What the couple can do

  • Hide a photo from guests. They hover a photo and tap the eye. It disappears for guests immediately. Nothing is deleted. The couple still sees it with a dark eye in the corner, and tapping that puts it back.
  • Their toolbar shows a count, for example 3 hidden, and opens a panel with Show all of them again.
  • If they hide the photo that was the cover, the cover falls through to the next photo automatically and returns when they unhide it.

What the couple cannot do

They cannot touch anything you hid or marked couple-only. Your decisions outrank theirs. They cannot delete anything.

What you see

Settings → Privacy → Hidden by your couple lists every photo they hid, who hid it and when, with a Show button to put any of it back. The same events appear in your Activity feed.
